Queens Quay

Queens Quay is the first residential phase of an ambitious programme to revitalise longstanding derelict land in Clydebank. It is connected to Scotland’s first major Water Source Heat Pump, taking heat from the nearby River Clyde and pumping it to buildings through a below-ground district heating network.

The district heating network:

  • Lowers bills for residents offering a reduced tariff and no costs for servicing or repairs;
  • Reduces carbon emissions via the use of an innovative water source heat pump in lieu of individual gas boilers;
  • Increases security of supply ensuring a minimum of down time and constant access to heat for all users
  • Produces much less pollution and contributes towards climate change targets to reduce CO2 emissions and move to a gas-free infrastructure.
  • A ‘fabric first’ approach was also taken, concentrating on maximising the performance of the basic building envelope and introducing further renewable technologies.
